ABOUT FILMWORKS | ABOUT JOE PARLAGRECO | ABOUT KIERRA PARLAGRECO

Filmworks, Inc. creates cinematic productions for the small screen.

We believe the size of the screen should never dictate the caliber of the production. We believe in integrity of voice, quality of image, and the transcendent power of story-telling. We believe every project has the potential to amplify a need, captivate an audience, inspire a movement, and amaze the world.

Founded in 2002 by DGA Director Joseph Parlagreco, and producer/editor Kierra Parlagreco, Filmworks has produced an expansive body of work creating everything from commercials to feature documentaries. The productions may be diverse, but two things remain constant: rich story-telling and captivating imagery.

In 2002, Filmworks produced and edited numerous short films for Showtime networks, starring such noted talent as Olympia Dukakis and Mario Cantone. In 2003, they began a project that would become the feature film "Call Me Malcolm"--a documentary about one man's journey of faith, love and gender identity. "Call Me Malcolm" has been seen in 45 cities and five countries to date, and continues to play in communities all around the world helping to shed a new light on transgender people. In 2007, Filmworks produced the multi-award-winning television special "Joy Dawned Again," broadcast on ABC. In 2008, Filmworks was hired by Bloomberg LP to create a custom internal TV network focused on the corporation’s philanthropic efforts. The team at Filmworks managed everything from scripts to edit to international footage acquisition and final delivery. In 2009, Filmworks partnered with Radha Productions to create an online unscripted series about the behind the scenes efforts of a talented group of young actors striving to combat racism with a work of social theatre. This web series has drawn thousands of viewers from more than 47 countries. In the spring of 2010 Filmworks was hired by Ralph Lauren to produce, edit and animate the most complex video initiative in the company's history: a short film featuring a group of kids who arrive at school and get transported into a magical forest. The campaign will launch worldwide in August 2010 on the Ralph Lauren website and in Bloomingdale's stores.
